Few coins in the world can match this one for ornateness or intricacy. The 2021 Dancing Diamond – Sparkle of the Heart is one of those Royal Canadian Mint coins that show what the Mint is capable of. Whether you are collecting the Sparkle of the Heart series, have an eye for unusual coins or just appreciate craftsmanship, this coin is the perfect fit for your collection.
The Sparkle of the Heart Series
Starting in 2019, the Royal Canadian Mint has released annual coins featuring Canadian diamonds at the heart of the coin. Released in the spring, these coins can make perfect gifts for mothers. They are also perfect for coin collecting for any numismatist that enjoys outstanding design work.
The diamonds featured in this series’ coins are mounted using innovative Dancing Diamond™ jewellery technology. This helps to make the diamond not only physically stand out from the face of the coin but also visually stand out, easily catching the eye of anyone who glances at the coin. The diamond appears to dance as you move the coin. Additionally, the coins feature intricate designs on their obverse and reverse sides. You will want to take note of this series.
The 2021 Dancing Diamond Coin
The latest addition to the Sparkle of the Heart series is the most impressive yet. Like the first two installments, it features a Canadian diamond at the center, surrounded by ornate metalwork. However, this coin takes things a step further with the addition of gold plating. Furthermore, the designs are even more impressive than those of the 2019 and 2020 instalments.
As with the rest of the series, the key design motif is the flowers of spring. On the reserve face, these surround the diamond in an elegant pattern that is slightly raised from the face thanks to the gold plating. The diamond in the center is mounted in a circular protrusion that is carefully designed to look like the opening blossom of a flower.
On the obverse, this coin takes a slight departure from other Royal Canadian Mint coins. While it features Susanna Blunt’s now unmistakable portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, it also has an engraved version of the floral design from the reverse. In the center of the obverse face is a small window that lets you see additional details of the diamond.
Made from 99.99% pure silver with selective gold plating, this coin is truly a sight to behold. The edge is serrated, and the finish is proof quality. Each coin comes with a serialized certificate of authenticity.
Its face value is $20. However, like most such coins, the real value significantly exceeds this nominal amount. If given as a Mother’s Day gift or otherwise as an expression of love, this coin is truly priceless.
Get Them While They Last
The 2019 and 2020 coins sold out from the Mint within minutes of their releases. Similarly, the 750-coin mintage of the 2021 coin is sold out at the Royal Canadian Mint. However, you can still find them at coin collecting platforms like Colonial Acres Coins. If you want to enjoy the beauty of this truly impressive coin, get yours while they last. This is a low-mintage series that is highly popular and moves quickly.
