2021 Best Wishes On Your Wedding Day $20 Silver Coin

July 2, 2021 by Colonial Acres Coins

Traditionally, a wedding has been an occasion to gather family and friends to celebrate the commitment two people make to share their lives together. Unfortunately, such a celebration has been challenging during the COVID-19 pandemic because large gatherings in close spaces are exactly the environment in which the disease can travel best. Therefore, couples in Canada have had to postpone or scale down wedding plans to protect themselves and vulnerable family members.

Nevertheless, according to a popular hashtag, love is not cancelled. Over the past year, couples have found creative ways to celebrate their weddings amongst the people they love most in safe environments that respect government restrictions on the number of people who can gather in one place. With vaccines slowing the spread of COVID-19, weddings should start looking more normal by 2022 or even late 2021. In the meantime, whether you choose to attend the ceremony or feel more comfortable sending well-wishes from afar, you can show how much you care with the new “Best Wishes on Your Wedding” coin from the Royal Canadian Mint.

What Makes the “Best Wishes on Your Wedding Coin” Such a Thoughtful Gift?

Silver coins make beautiful gifts for any occasion, but this thoughtfully designed $20 coin makes it even more special. Not only does it have the year 2021 engraved on it, but it specifically says “Married in 2021” in both English and French. Artist Sylvie Daigneault’s design consists of a large stylized heart shape in a lacy pattern that contains several other smaller hearts, and these are accented with selective plating with pink gold so that they really stand out. The pink gold plating is also found on Her Majesty’s portrait on the obverse and along the rim.

How Have Couples Found Unique Ways of Celebrating?

In light of the pandemic, most couples have simply postponed their weddings to what they hope will be a more auspicious date. However, some people who have chosen not to wait have instead found creative ways of holding weddings in compliance with safety guidelines and government restrictions.

Some couples have been holding multiple events. They have had a small formal ceremony then scheduled larger celebrations in different locations at later dates. This can be helpful if the bride and groom’s family live in different areas. It saves loved ones from having to travel.

Other couples have been holding shift weddings. If you think about it, most weddings actually consist of several different events. In addition to the ceremony, these can include the following:

  • Rehearsal dinner
  • Cocktail hour
  • Dinner reception
  • After-party
  • Wedding breakfast or brunch

A shift wedding treats each of these as completely separate events, each with its own guest list. That way, everyone gets to share at least a part of the special day with the couple.

Of course, perhaps the most 21st-century adaptation that couples have made to wedding ceremonies is the hybrid wedding. This combines an intimate, in-person ceremony with a live-stream experience that friends and family members can share from around the country, or even around the world. A videographer has a crucial role to play in the hybrid wedding format.

Some of these format changes can offer advantages beyond health and safety. It will be interesting to see how many persist when COVID mitigation is no longer a significant concern.

A Special Wedding Present From the Royal Canadian Mint

The past year has clearly brought on its challenges but also shown how resilient people are. This coin is not only a perfect gift for a couple who is especially interested in collecting coins but is a long-lasting reminder that true love wins even in hard times. This coin is a special gift to receive as a wedding present to commemorate the year a couple was married, no matter what circumstances they faced. Purchase this coin and find thoughtful gifts for other occasions from Colonial Acres Coins.
