One could argue that symbolism is in the very core of humanity; we look to symbols for help on a daily basis. From road signs to school work to the economy and money, we are surrounded by them. Canada is a country that is symbolic of prosperity, peace and good living. Similarly, many things are symbolic of Canada – elks, the great outdoors, nature, industry, economy and the like. For reference sake, it only took two days for the first maple leaf-shaped coin to be completely sold out. It goes without saying that the leaf-shaped coin will similarly be in demand by collectors due to its symbolic expression of national pride, as well as artistry, both of which in the service of Canada’s milestone year.
