The 1969-1979 series of Canadian paper money had numerous interesting features that set it apart from other series. The most distinctive feature of this series is the colour, and is often referred to as the “multicoloured series.” Graphically, this series of notes has numerous geometric patterns that twist and sway around the edges of the notes. 1969-1979 Canadian Paper Money: Types Of Notes
This series of Canadian paper money includes a number of notes, each with intricate and beautiful colour patterns and designs. They include:

Scenes Of Canada Series $1 Note
Printed by both British American Bank Note Company and Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd., the $1 note was issued in 1974. However, because $1 coins were introduced in 1987, the last $1 notes were issued in 1989. The vignette was based on a 1963 photograph by Malak. It was engraved by C. Gordon Yorke. The design of the back featured a tugboat on the Ottawa River below Parliament Hill, in the middle of a broken log boom.
Scenes Of Canada Series $2 Note
The $2 note from this series of paper money of Canada features a scene of Inuit hunting. The scene was based on a photo taken by Doug Wilkinson at Pond Inlet on North Baffin Island. It was printed by British American Bank Note Company and was issued in 1975. The vignette was originally intended for the back of the $100 note and was engraved by C. Gordon Yorke.
Scenes Of Canada Series $5 Note
First issued in 1972, the $5 note had the portrait of Sir Wilfrid Laurier on the face. However, the note was reissued in 1979 with the serial numbers relocate
d to the back of the notes. The numeral at the centre top of the face was made more distinct. Printed by Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd., the design featured a salmon seiner in Johnstone Strait, northeast of Vancouver Island.
Scenes Of Canada Series $10 Note
When it comes to paper money in Canada, the $10 note of this series featured a unique design based on a photograph by George Hunter of the Polymer Corporation in Sarnia, Ontario. On the front of the note was the portrait of Sir John A. Macdonald engraved by George Gunderson. First issued in 1971, the note was printed by Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd.
Scenes Of Canada Series $20 Note
The face of the $20 note of this series features an engraving of the Queen by Gunderson. Printed by both the British American Bank Note Company and Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd., the first note was issued in 1970. In 1979 the $20 note saw a change and a reissue, where the serial numbers were moved to the back. A view of Moraine Lake in Alberta’s Valley of the Ten Peaks can be seen on the back.
Scenes Of Canada Series $50 Note
A Gunderson engraving of William Lyon Mackenzie King can be seen on the face of the $50 note of this series of Canadian paper money. Printed by Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd., the note was issued in 1975. The back of this note features the dome formation from the RCMP musical ride.
Scenes Of Canada Series $100 Note
The front of the $100 note features a portrait of Prime Minister Sir Robert Borden by C. Gordon Yorke. The back also features C. Gordon Yorke’s engraving of the vignette of the harbour at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. This note was printed by British American Bank Note Company and was first issued in 1976.
